“Search for Single Production of a Heavy Vector-Like T Quark Decaying to a Higgs Boson and a Top Quark with a Lepton in the Final State”

Dear Ada and Silvia, I have read the paper. In general it seems quite clear to me, I have a couple of comments on some details: - In page 3, line 110 the MLM matching scheme is mentioned. Since all throughout thepaper the acronyms are explained (like Parton Distribution Function (PDF)) I wonder if it is the case to write what MLM means… - In page 5, line 180 the sentence “The b tag status of a jet IN not used…” should be “The b tag status of a jet IS not used…” I think - In page 10, in the caption “normal- isation” should be “normali- sation”

Hello Ada, I have read the paper and its a nice and simple analysis presented in this. I just have few comments: 1. line: 203 → It is mention that in this analysis T quark mass is used as a discriminator in the limit setting procedure. Is there any specific reason for choosing mass. Secondly the plots in figure4 are blinded. It would be very interesting to look for mass of T unblinded in the signal region as well as it is shown in figure6 for the controlled region. I think its because of lack of statistics may be the authors can comment on this well. 2. line 221 → I don’t know how this information of chi2 comparison b/w the signal and the controlled region distribution provided only the p-vlaue is enough to check the compatibility. For me chi2/ndf would be good choice.

Ciao Ada e Silvia, ho finito di leggere l'articolo… A me sembra piuttosto chiaro e non ho trovato altri particolari errori o problemi oltre a quello che Ennio probabilmente vi aveva già' scritto: linea 85 → resolution va a capo in modo sbagliato linea 94 → presence va a capo in modo sbagliato linea 110 → il “MLM matching scheme non e' specificato da nessuna parte (forse citare la referenza e' sufficiente) linea 180 → of a jet IS not used

The paper is in general well written and clear. A few points: - Tables always occur in the middle of paragraphs. To be avoided. - 1 Introduction, lines 43-47 This last paragraph is not needed and not appropriate for an introduction. It can be moved later in the paper or removed. If it is kept, it should be phrased differently. - 2 The CMS Detector, lines 78-80 This sentence is not clear: do particle momenta in the jet originate from the primary vertex or not (not associated)? - 3 Samples, line 110 MLM needs explanation - 6 Systematic Uncertainties, lines 237-238 Sentence starting with 'The next ..' needs to be rephrased Along the entire paper check and make uniform - cross-section vs cross section - left and right handed vs left- and right-handed Detailed comments: - line 65: nonshowering → non-showering - line 72: matching ECAL and → matching of ECAL and - line 76: particles produced by → particles identified by - line 81: An area based → An area-based - line 95: comma after 50 GeV - line 116: same beam crossing → same bunch crossing - line 120: processed by a full → processed through the full - line 180: jet in not used → jet is not used - line 212: Estimate with capital E - line 230: Uncertainties with capital U - line 246: those on light jets → those on light flavour jets - lines 251-252: remove one of the two 'additionally' - line 277: remove space after doublet - line 292: an electron or muon → an electron or a muon References: [7]: Nuclear Physics → Nucl.
